Our Favorite Men’s Fall Fashion Essentials

Fall always feels like the best season to redefine personal style. The crisp air can inspire wardrobes, but it can also be hard to navigate. Do we need to bundle or is a light layer enough? Finding pieces that fall perfectly in between fashion and functional (AKA warm enough but not suffocating) can be difficult, so we’ve done the work for you. Here, we’ve included some of our favorite men’s pieces to wear this season and layer into winter.

Cable Knit Cardigan

I’ve been on the hunt for a stylish yet comfortable layer for the cooler months that’s not too heavy or too light. Thankfully I discovered this cable knit cardigan and it has already become my go-to layering jacket. It’s soft and warm for low temperatures without feeling heavy, and it’s casual but looks nice enough to go from a day at the office to a date. 

Haggar Stretch Corduroy Pants

Corduroy is an Italian favorite that we can wear at home this fall. There’s just something about the unique texture and warmth that screams fall and these Haggar corduroys are my new favorite. They’re made from a comfortable cotton blend and have just the right amount of elastic stretch for fall adventures — as well as hearty meals. They’re a solid option for looking dressy and put together without feeling stuffy.

Carhartt Tonal Beanie

Fall and winter require a good beanie, one that keeps you warm, looks good, and feels good on. But a bad beanie can be too tight, too loose, or just not warm enough. Over the years, Carhartt has never let me down, and the Tonal beanie is made from incredibly soft 100% cotton, keeps my head warm, and, honestly, just looks darn good. There’s a reason the brand’s hat is everywhere, including, now, on several of our own fashion roundups. This Tonal version offers a different variety of colors than the original hat, and goes with a monochromatic look for the patch.

Runcati Sherpa Pullover

I’m a sucker for anything sherpa-lined, so when I came across this hoodie, it instantly moved to the top of my Amazon wishlist. What’s the point of a hoodie that’s fuzzy outside but doesn’t use that same soft material inside too? The Runcati is like a warm fluffy hug on a chilly day and it pairs well with jeans or the corduroy pants above. This type of material, while soft, is prone to turning into a matted mess in the wash, so be sure to use a cold cycle and hang to dry.

Bruno Marc Casual Dress Sneakers

Finding the right pair of shoes for fall is tougher than it sounds, so I was thrilled to come across these Bruno Marc sneakers. They’re comfy enough for long walks, but still look sharp for school, work, or holiday events. If you’re like me, you’ll know the struggle is finding a “skater” shoe that doesn’t slip on wet leaves or hurt my feet after 15 minutes. Here, you get the best of both worlds with the arch-support cushioned insole and slip-resistant rubber soles that keep you steady and balanced. They’re easily my favorite fall footwear this year.

CQR Flannel Shirt

Like corduroy, flannel is a perfect fall fabric, and this shirt (particularly in hunter green) hits all the right notes for me. Throw it on and you’ll be ready for chopping wood or heading out to dinner. It’s made from 100% cotton, so it retains heat but still breathes well, and it won’t irritate your skin. The durable cuffs and collar will keep it looking sharp wear after wear too.
